Entropic Communications Channel Stacking Switch Differentiates MTI Award-Winning
LNBF

SAN DIEGO, May 19, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic Communications, Inc.
(Nasdaq:ENTR), a leading provider of silicon solutions to enable connected home
entertainment, today announced that the award winning MTI DODECA Low Noise Block
Feedhorn (LNBF) featuring Entropic's Channel Stacking Switch (CSS) has received
the prestigious 2009 Taiwan Excellence Award. This is the second award for the
DODECA LNBF, having received the "2008 Innovation Product Award" from the
Hsinchu Science Park Administration in December 2008.

Channel Stacking Switch Technology Drives Innovation

MTI's 12-Channel One Cable LNBF (DODECA) is one of the most advanced LNBF
designs in the world and was awarded the 2009 Taiwan Excellence Award in April
2009. The Taiwan Excellence Award is known as the most prestigious award in Asia
given to products that reflect R&D Innovation, Design Innovation, Quality
Systems and Marketing.

The most innovative feature of the DODECA LNBF, the ability to support up to 12
tuners at the same time, is enabled by Entropic's Channel Stacking Switch
technology. The DODECA LNBF was designed primarily for smaller multi-dwelling
unit (MDU) applications, where a single LNBF can provide support for the entire
building.

"Entropic's Channel Stacking Switch provides the key enabling technology that
MTI's design team leveraged to deliver a solution to the market that provides
installers and end-customers a user friendly interface and cost effective, one
cable solution," said Allen Yen, president and CEO at MTI. "We look forward to
continuing our relationship with Entropic to meet the needs of our customers and
bring more innovation to the satellite market."

Benefits of Channel Stacking Switch Technology

Entropic's CSS technology can support up to 12 tuners over a single cable, which
significantly reduces both the cost and the cabling complexity of single family
and MDU satellite installations. Unlike traditional satellite installations,
which require a unique cable for each tuner from the satellite dish to the
set-top box, Entropic's CSS chipsets enable multiple video streams from
individual or multiple satellites into the home over a single cable. This
simplified cabling architecture enables the deployment of set-top boxes, with
multiple tuner capabilities, in multiple rooms without expensive installation or
retrofitting. Additionally, CSS technology enables plug and play for set-top box
upgrades and allows installers to reuse existing cabling to quickly set up a DBS
system.

"We are gratified that our CSS technology is recognized for differentiating and
adding value to MTI's product designs," said Vinay Gokhale, senior vice
president, marketing and business development at Entropic Communications. "We
look forward to continuing to collaborate with the design and marketing teams at
MTI to deliver innovative solutions to serve the satellite market."
