Synology(R) Launches the New 2-Bay Disk Station DS209+II for Small to Medium
Business Users at Interop in Las Vegas

REDMOND, Wash., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Synology announced today at the Interop
show in Las Vegas their new Disk Station DS209+II to the U.S. Market. The
DS209+II is a 2-bay NAS server addressing the SMB market's needs for
performance, reliability and cost savings in data storage solutions.

As the successor to the award-winning DS209+ which received the CNet Editor's
Choice and PC World's Best Buy Award, the DS209+II proves to be even faster
with upgraded hardware configurations including a 1.06 GHz CPU, 64 bit memory
bus, floating point computing, 512MB DDRII RAM, one Gigabit LAN port, three
USB2.0 ports, and one eSATA port.

"The DS209+ has been the fastest two-bay NAS on the market and we are pleased
to bring the even faster DS209+II to market in the U.S. The performance on the
DS209+II is remarkable, with the web server handling 1000 simultaneous
requests in only 85.24 seconds," says Doug Self, product specialist at
Synology America Corp. "Whether you're a large company looking for performance
or a growing company looking for value, the DS209+II certainly meets the needs
of any organization who needs a reliable file management and data backup
solution at an affordable price," adds Self.

The DS209+II is fully loaded with Disk Station Manager 2.1 which includes a
variety of robust applications. Web Station enables corporations to host
multiple websites with PHP and MySQL. File Station 2 allows authorized users
to modify privileges of files and folders. User Home feature automatically
creates a home folder and a personal website address for each user. Mail
Station enables DS209+II becoming a mail server and supports Outlook-style web
mail, SMTP, POP3 and IMAP. Several backup alternatives, including Encrypted
Network Backup, Local Backup and Desktop Backup and RAID 0/1 configuration
options safeguard critical business data.

Compared with an average PC server which consumes approximately 200 watts
power, the DS209+II consumes only 30 watts under normal operation with two
hard drives installed. The unique scheduled power on/off function and HDD
hibernation further minimize power consumption.

Availability

The DS209+II will be available in the U.S. to purchase in June.
