Baron & Budd, P.C. Attorneys Bruce Steckler and Burton LeBlanc to Serve at
Chinese Drywall Conference
Attorneys to Address Issues and Impact of Chinese Drywall for Homeowners
DALLAS, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Bruce Steckler, attorney at Baron& Budd, P.C.,
a national plaintiffs law firm, will serve as plaintiff co-chair at the June
18 "Chinese Drywall conference" in New Orleans. Burton LeBlanc, Louisiana
native and attorney at Baron & Budd, P.C., will also be featured as a speaker
at the conference.
Steckler will address several topics at the conference. These topics include:
an overview of the product and the players; liability issues facing builders;
distributors and manufacturers; property damage claims; health damage claims;
state and federal legislative developments; bankruptcy potential for the
already hard-hit construction and real estate market; and a class action and
MDL update.
"Many homeowners are suffering from issues with Chinese drywall and don't know
what to do about it," said Steckler. "That's why it's so vital to make
attorneys and homeowners aware of what's going on with the issue ... so we can
help attorneys know how to approach the issue and, ultimately, help homeowners
receive the legal assistance and compensation they need to protect their
property and their families."
LeBlanc will speak on recent state and federal legislative developments with
Chinese drywall. His primary focus will be on the status of the foreign
manufacturing bill, but he will also discuss other state and federal
initiatives regarding Chinese drywall.
Chinese drywall has recently become a serious problem for many homeowners
throughout the country, particularly in Florida and Gulf Coast areas where a
shortage of post-hurricane building materials resulted in the importation and
use of Chinese drywall between 2004 and 2007. Over time, issues have become
more evident with the drywall as time, normal wear and weather conditions have
caused a chemical reaction that creates serious risks to property and personal
health.
