Raytheon Awards $600,000 in Scholarships to Students Pursuing Math and Science
Degrees

MathMovesU scholarship a bonus to students

WALTHAM, Mass., May 19, 2009 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has
awarded MathMovesU Bonus Award scholarships to 30 high school seniors and
college undergraduates who are pursuing majors in STEM (science, technology,
engineering and math) fields. 

The recipients were chosen from a pool of 900 students who previously won a
$1,000 Raytheon MathMovesU Middle School Scholarship. Each MathMovesU Bonus
Award winner will receive a $20,000 scholarship, representing an additional
investment of $600,000 by Raytheon.

"Raytheon is proud to award each of these 30 students with a $20,000
MathMovesU Bonus Award scholarship to support his or her pursuit of a college
degree in a math or related field," said Bill Swanson, Chairman and CEO of
Raytheon Company. "We expect that their college experience, coupled with the
tireless support of their family and teachers, will enable these promising
students to enjoy a rewarding and exciting STEM career."

The MathMovesU Bonus Awards are part of Raytheon's MathMovesU program, an
initiative designed to engage students in math and science through contests,
live events, scholarships, tutoring programs and more. In a separate
announcement issued last month, MathMovesU awarded 150 middle school students
with $1,000 scholarships to be used toward a math, science or technology
summer camp or program.

Since MathMovesU was launched in 2005, the program has awarded more than $2
million in scholarships and has touched the lives of more than 700,000
