Certeon cited IBM's (NYSE: IBM) commitment to innovation and support
structure, including IBM's new Industry Solution Reseller (ISR) program.
Under the ISR program, IBM Business Partners help customers integrate their
solution often providing logistical support as well.
"We chose IBM System x servers for the combination of performance, financing
options, quality, and IBM's global support network," said Peter Dougherty,
CEO, Certeon. "IBM systems and services enable us to provide our customers
with cost-effective, high performance solutions to quickly maximize their
overall ROI."
Certeon has contracted with the Embedded Solutions Group at Avnet Technology
Solutions, an IBM Business Partner. Avnet takes delivery of IBM systems,
loads Certeon's aCelera Virtual Appliance software, and ships the product to
Certeon's customers. This allows Certeon to focus on its core business rather
than on assembly, integration and logistical issues.
Certeon's aCelera solution is being used by leading IBM clients worldwide such
as a global telecommunications company and technology consulting and
outsourcing corporation. Other businesses evaluating aCelera software include
Fortune 500 companies in financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and
aerospace.
"This is a rapidly evolving area and demonstrates how IBM and IBM Business
Partners are collaborating to provide companies and their customers with a
range of services, servers, storage products, software and financing," said
Mark J McInnis, midmarket sales executive for IBM General Business, the
business unit focused on small and midsize companies. "In today's economic
environment, smart businesses are focusing on what they do best and partnering
with other companies for support services."
IBM's ISR program is helping companies control expenses, improve quality, and
speed time to market across many industries including media and entertainment,
telecommunications, video on demand, healthcare and life sciences, aerospace
and defense, security appliances and software appliances. This solution area
is sometimes called the "OEM or "embedded" marketplace since IBM's products
and services become one element of another company's offering.
Certeon aCelera Virtual Appliance accelerates all WAN traffic and optimizes
application response time over the WAN by more than 95 percent improving
remote user productivity, and providing a competitive advantage.
aCelera has been validated for Ready for IBM(R) Rational(R) Software for IBM
Rational ClearCase(R) Remote Client (CCRC), which enables developers to manage
the software configuration management process over the WAN.
Developers using CCRC are often geographically distributed, working remotely
either in small branch offices or from home. Certeon's aCelera software runs
on IBM System x servers at the data center and remote sites within a virtual
machine environment and enables distributed developers to optimize CCRC
transactions over the WAN.
