Fortinet Extends Multi-Threat Security to Enterprise Remote Users, Branch Offices and Small Businesses

SUNNYVALE, CA, May 19 (MARKET WIRE) --
Fortinet(R) -- a market-leading network security provider and worldwide
leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -- today announced
the FortiGate(R)-30B, a multi-threat security device that offers powerful
network protection technology used by enterprise customers to the growing
population of telecommuters, remote/branch outlets and small businesses.
Designed to accommodate the ease-of-use and price sensitivities of the
smallest networked environments, the FortiGate-30B provides an integrated
security architecture for broad protection in a compact desktop form
factor. In addition, Fortinet has also introduced the FortiWifi-30B to
support small wireless networked environments.
"While deploying multiple security devices may be impractical at corporate
headquarters and larger sites, it is largely impossible at many remote
locations and small offices due to configuration and cost constraints,"
said Michael Xie, CTO and co-founder of Fortinet. "Nevertheless, the need
for strong protection is constant and real and no less demanding, which is
why we've enabled the same level of security inspection on the
FortiGate-30B as we do on our highest-end, integrated security devices."
The FortiGate-30B and FortiWifi-30B can support a number of ROBO/SOHO
environment scenarios, and can be centrally managed by enterprises and
service providers through Fortinet's FortiManager(TM) and
FortiAnalyzer(TM) products, regardless of deployment size:
-- Remote Sites - Large organizations working to provide network access
to remote telecommuters, retail outlets and branch offices are facing the
dilemma of how to do so securely, efficiently and cost-effectively. Remote
offices are typically at higher risk since it is harder to see what
employees are doing on the network, and who/what is being attacked. In
order to provide secure network connectivity and effective protection from
malicious attacks, a single device uniting firewall, VPN, intrusion
prevention, Web content filtering, antivirus, data leakage protection and
antispyware, specifically designed for these environments, is required.
-- Retail Outlets and Branch Offices - Dedicated VPN tunnels have become
a standard method of providing access and conveying real time inventory and
sales information to corporate headquarters. Once connected, these networks
can introduce malware and Trojans acquired by their endpoints if the remote
network is not adequately protected. Multiple security enforcement
technologies such as firewall, intrusion prevention, antivirus and
antimalware must be deployed to protect the entire distributed network and
to maintain compliance with PCI, HIPPA and GLBA regulations. With three
internal security ports, the FortiGate-30B and FortiWifi-30B offer complete
network security protection and dedicated VPN access in a single device
that can be provisioned and managed from anywhere in the world.
-- Remote Telecommuters - Unprotected home networks of telecommuting
employees pose a security risk to the central enterprise network, which is
further compounded with network usage by other family members, who must be
kept separate from work-related access. The FortiGate-30B offers a single
solution that provides total network protection for the telecommuter's
entire network, while simultaneously offering dedicated VPN access to
corporate resources. Multiple internal security ports support multiple
devices on the internal interface, and authentication techniques ensure
that only the telecommuter's endpoint is allowed access to corporate
resources.
-- Small/Home Offices - Small businesses have many of the same security
requirements and regulation mandates as do large businesses to protect
their data and that of their customers. The FortiGate-30B offers the same
level of security inspection in a single, easy-to-deploy and cost-conscious
appliance.
Wireless Security
The FortiWifi-30B adds a built-in wireless access point to the broad,
multi-threat protection of FortiGate appliances, making it ideal for small
remote offices, retail outlets and telecommuting environments. It offers
standard 802.11 b/g support, a Wide Area Network (WAN) port for securing
internet connections, and four integrated switch ports for multi-user
environments.
Pricing and Availability
The FortiGate-30B is now available and competitively priced at USD $295
for the hardware and USD $395 if bundled with a one-year FortiGuard
Subscription Service. TheFortiWifi-30B will be available later this
quarter at USD $395 for the hardware alone and USD $495 with a 1-year
service bundle. Pricing provided is applicable to the Americas region
only.
