USGIF Scholarship Program Deadline Reminder

HERNDON, Va.--(Business Wire)--
The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) would like to
remind students and the GEOINT Community that the application deadline for the
USGIF 2009 Scholarship Program is on Friday, May 29. All applications must be
received or postmarked by this date. High school seniors, undergraduate,
graduate and doctoral students within the geospatial sciences field or one
related to it are encouraged to submit applications by the May 29 deadline.
Nomination forms for all three awards categories are available online at
http://www.usgif.org/Education_Scholarships.aspx. Scholarship winners will be
announced and recognized during the GEOINT 2009 Symposium from Oct. 18-21 in San
Antonio, Texas. 

Last year the Foundation awarded $56,000 to 13 recipients, bringing the total
amount of scholarships provided in the past four years to more than a quarter of
a million dollars. In 2008, four Ph.D. candidates, three master`s students,
three undergraduates and three graduating high school seniors received
scholarships from the program. High school winners received $2,000 scholarships
and the others received $5,000 scholarships. 

In an effort to help further the advancement of the geospatial tradecraft, USGIF
is dedicated to assist promising students interested in the geospatial sciences
with its scholarship awards. USGIF hopes to inspire students who are interested
in all that GEOINT has to offer to invest their futures in this incredibly
exciting and relevant field of study.
