Thai stocks seen higher, oil shares in focus

Mon May 18, 2009 10:35pm EDT

BANGKOK, May 19 (Reuters) - Thai shares are expected to
extend recent gains on Tuesday, cheered by positive overseas
sentiment and higher oil prices that should push up heavyweight
energy shares, analysts said.
"Energy shares should get good support from higher crude
prices. The markets are likely to gain one to two percent,"
said Kosin Sripaiboon, head of research at UOB Kay Hian
Securities.
Resistance on the main index .SETI was seen at 547 and
550 and support at 535 and 532, analysts said.
On Monday, the index ended up 1.2 percent at 540.22, with
outperformers including refiner Esso ESSO.BK, which rose 14.8
percent, and fourth-ranked Kasikornbank KBAN.BK, which gained
4.6 percent.
Market turnover eased to 18.6 billion baht ($538 million),
compared with last week's average 28.92 billion baht, with
