ABB shares jump 4.3 pct after Viterra deal

SYDNEY May 20 (Reuters) - Shares in ABB Grain Ltd ABB.AX rose as much as 4.3 percent after Canadian grain group Viterra Inc (VT.TO) agreed to buy ABB in a share and cash offer, valuing ABB at about A$1.6 billion ($1.2 billion).

By 0102 GMT, ABB shares were up 3.0 percent at A$8.86, outpacing a 0.2 percent fall in the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index .AXJO. The offer values ABB as much as A$9.41 each. (Reporting by Denny Thomas;)
