Heart disease is an epidemic in Los Angeles County. A new report by the
California Department of Public Health has ranked Los Angeles County 58th out of
58 counties in deaths caused by heart disease.
As a response to the overwhelming need for education and information on heart
disease The Life Institute, the Center for Evidence Based Medicine, Dentistry,
Health, Beauty and Wellness, will be hosting an informative meeting on How to
Prevent Heart Attacks.

Jamshid Maddahi, MD, FACC, will be speaking on Risk Factors for Hearth Attacks as well as Early Detection and Prevention. Dr. Maddahi is a Professor of Medicine in Cardiology and Molecular & Medical Pharmacology (Nuclear Medicine) at the UCLA School of Medicine, and the Director of the Biomedical Imaging Institute.
Kamini Kapoor, DDS, will be presenting information on How Gum Disease is Linked to Heart Attacks. Dr. Kapoor is a Board Eligible Periodontist. The Beverly Hills-based periodontist has been in private practice for 19 years and focuses on Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. She is a graduate of Columbia University School of Dental Medicine.
In addition to the presentation, information will be provided on how to obtain a complimentary heart scan from Heart Check America at the event.

About the Doctors:
Jamshid Maddahi, M.D., F.A.C.C
Dr. Maddahi received his medical degree from Tehran University School of
Medicine in Tehran, Iran. His rigorous training included a two-year internship
in internal medicine at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center at the University of
Illinois. He also completed a residency in nuclear medicine and a fellowship in
cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCLA.
Dr. Maddahi has won numerous awards and commendations including the following:
Best Doctors in America; Best Doctors in Los Angeles; Distinguished Scientist
Award for distinguished contributions to nuclear medicine, Western Regional
Society of Nuclear Medicine; Certificate of Honor for Humanitarian Achievements,

Dr. Maddahi is a founding member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology

Medicine, Academy of Molecular Imaging, American College of Cardiology, and
American Heart Association. He is also a fellow of the American College of
Cardiology. Dr. Maddahi is currently a Professor of Medicine in Cardiology and
Molecular & Medical Pharmacology (Nuclear Medicine) at the UCLA School of
Medicine, and the Director of the Biomedical Imaging Institute.
Kamini Kapoor, DDS
Kamini Kapoor, DDS, has 19 years experience in periodontal surgery.
After graduating from the Columbia University's School of Dental and Oral
Surgery in 1986, Dr. Kapoor did a year residency at the VA Medical Center in Ann
Arbor, Michigan. She then completed a three-year Periodontal Surgical Internship
at Ohio State University.
Dr. Kapoor keeps up with the latest trends and dental procedures by studying
with dental experts and taking advanced courses in the Periodontics. The doctor
is a board eligible periodontist.
