California Pizza Kitchen Opens at Bridgeport Marketplace in Valencia, CA

California Pizza Kitchen, Inc. (CPK) (NASDAQ: CPKI), home to the Original BBQ
Chicken Pizza and other innovative hearth-baked pizzas, made-to-order pastas,
creative salads, appetizers, soups, sandwiches and desserts, opened a new
full-service restaurant in Valencia, Calif. today.

The new 6,000 square foot restaurant is located at 24061 Newhall Ranch Road at
McBean Parkway. Hours of operation will be Monday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m.
to 10:00 p.m. except Friday and Saturday when the restaurant closes at 11:00
p.m. Guests can dine-in, place a take-out order by ordering online at cpk.com or
use CPK`s Curbside Service and have their order delivered to their car by
calling (661) 259-2082.

The menu will feature all of the popular favorites along with the newest menu
additions including a Moroccan Chicken Salad, Moroccan-spiced chicken breast on
a bed of crisp Romaine lettuce with butternut squash, Medjool dates, fresh
avocado, toasted almonds, fresh beets, chopped egg, carrots, dried cranberries
and red bell peppers tossed in champagne vinaigrette; Meat Cravers Pizza, a
combination of sweet Italian sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, Capicola ham,
julienne salami and Mozzarella cheese; Cheeseburger Pizza, with ground Angus
beef, caramelized sweet onions, Mozzarella and American cheeses, hearth-baked
then topped with fresh Roma tomatoes, chilled shredded lettuce and CPK`s secret
sauce; Pan-Sautéed Mahi Mahi, lightly seasoned Mahi Mahi served with asparagus &
spinach spaghettini or wok-stirred mixed vegetables and Sticky Toffee Cake,
CPK's newest dessert with caramelized pear and roasted pecans, covered in a
butter toffee sauce and topped with Haagen-Dazs ice cream.

The new restaurant will also feature an extensive beverage menu from its full
bar, including the new CPK Margarita and popular favorites such as Harvest Punch
and Cherry Lime Sparkler.

Following CPK's tradition of giving back to the communities in which it
operates, the new CPK restaurant will donate 100% of all dine-in pizza sales
during regular business hours on Monday, June 1, 2009, to the Child & Family
Center which provides mental health, behavioral and educational services to
children, adults and their families.
