German government aims to decide on Opel by mid-week

BERLIN (Reuters) - The German government aims to reach a decision on General Motors' German unit Opel by mid-week, a government spokesman said on Monday.

Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin over the weekend about a possible solution for the German carmaker, the spokesman told reporters. (Reporting by Kerstin Gehmlich and Noah Barkin, Writing by Sarah Marsh)
