Mandarin Oriental Dellis Cay Experience Auctioned off for Charity at Formula One Grand Prix in Monaco

MONACO, France--(Business Wire)-- On Friday, May 22, 2009, Dr. Cem Kinay, CEO & Chairman of The O Property Collection (OPC), donated a Mandarin Oriental Dellis Cay Luxury Experience on his exclusive Caribbean island for the charity auction at Amber Fashion 2009, which was hosted alongside the Formula One Grand Prix in Monaco to support the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Presented by Sir Elton John`s partner David Furnish, the Lot 1 package included a seven-night stay at the Mandarin Oriental Dellis Cay after its Grand Opening anticipated for mid 2010, complete with roundtrip business class airfare for two to the Turks & Caicos Islands and a selection of luxury items from high-end brands such as Apple, Burberry and Chopard to further enhance the retreat. Formula One Management CEO Bernie Ecclestone won the original bid on the package for $35,000 but immediately re-donated the lot back to the auction which then resold for $40,000, yielding a total of $75,000 for the cause.
