SAN ANTONIO--(Business Wire)-- SmartCard Marketing Systems Inc. (PINKSHEETS:SMKG) announced today that their Prepaid Card loading, Pin Debit and Bill Payment processing volume increased over 635% for the month of April 2009 as compared to same period last year. Processing volume continues to exceed the $1 million per month level. (PINKSHEETS: SMKG) President Bruce Baillio said, "In the current economic climate the number of consumers with strained banking relationships is increasing. Meanwhile, the prepaid sector has seen dramatic growth in the amount of money loaded onto card products like ours. The April 15 edition of the Prepaid Press cites an estimate from Mercator Advisory Group that open-loop prepaid card loads have increased from $4.7 billion in 2003 to $38.7 billion in 2007, while others estimate the 2007 total to be as high as $113 billion. (PINKSHEETS: SMKG) business model involves capturing a significant share of this growing market." We seek safe harbor SmartCard Marketing Systems Inc.
