The Hanover Names John Reilly Vice President and Treasurer

WORCESTER, Mass., May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Hanover Insurance
Group, Inc. (NYSE: THG) today announced the appointment of John (JR) Reilly as
vice president corporate finance and treasurer.

In this capacity, Reilly is responsible for the company's treasury operations,
investor relations, and corporate financial planning and analysis. He is
assuming these responsibilities from Bob Myron, who has taken on broader
responsibilities in the company's finance organization. Reilly will report to
Myron in his new role.

Reilly comes to The Hanover from The Hartford Financial Services Group, where
he served in senior-level positions in investor relations, finance, and
business development. He holds a master's degree in business administration
from The University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science degree from The
University of New Hampshire.
