M.S. Walker Companies Wins Design Build Industry Award for Southern California Orthopedic Institute Office Project in

NEWPORT BEACH, CA, May 27 (MARKET WIRE) --
Winners in the 2009 Design Build Industry Association-Western Pacific
Region "Magic of Design Build" Awards Competition were announced at the
Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Spa last Thursday night, with local firm
M.S. Walker and Associates bringing home the Merit Award in the "Private
Sector - Under 15 Million" category for their Southern California
Orthopedic Institute (SCOI) Office Building at 2400 Bahamas Drive in
Bakersfield. Projects were entered from all over California, Arizona and
Nevada. M.S. Walker's entry was the only winner from California's San
Joaquin Valley.

The two-story building sits on the west side of the 99 Freeway in
Bakersfield, CA, just south of Yokut's Park. The ground floor of the
building houses SCOI's MRI, Ambulatory Surgery Center and Physical
Therapy; while the upper floor is home to SCOI's clinical functions
including 6 exam 'pods,' casting, x-ray, administration and offices. This
new facility brings all of SCOI's Bakersfield functions under one roof.
Jurors noted that 'the building's striking architecture molded into a
difficult site set it apart from other entries.'
