Pep Boys Grand Opens First Speed Shop in Downtown LA

PHILADELPHIA--(Business Wire)--
The Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack (NYSE: PBY), the nation`s leading automotive
aftermarket service and retail chain, today announced that its new Speed Shop,
located at 1200 West Washington Blvd. in Los Angeles, will celebrate its Grand
Opening on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31.

The Speed Shop, which is the first of its kind for Pep Boys, combines the old
time feel of traditional speed shops with the latest in performance products and
accessories that can usually only be found online or in specialty shops.

"Having been in the Los Angeles market since 1933, we are proud to serve the
area with such a unique location that will serve as a hub for enthusiasts to
network, swap stories about their pastime, while being able to get parts,
services and products to enhance their vehicles," said Pep Boys` Senior Vice

This 4,700 square foot location, with 22 service bays that can install nearly
all of the store`s high performance parts on-site, joins the 74 other Pep Boys
locations in the Los Angeles market.

As part of its Grand Opening celebration, the store, located in downtown LA,
will offer giveaways, promotions and vender product demonstrations during the
celebration. There will also be special guests attending and these visits will
feature autograph signings from President and CEO of Meguiar`s, Barry Meguiar
and Gale Banks, founder and CEO of Banks Power. Also joining in the fun is the
co-host of TLC`s Overhaulin` and host of Hot Import Nights, Adrienne "AJ" Janic,
along with one of the first professional Latino drifters to perform in that
style in the formula D series, Casper Canul. Also on hand, "The Queen of Cars,"
Geneivieve Chappel, known for hosting shows on ESPN and the Speed Channel.

Company mascots Manny, Moe & Jack will meet and greet customers and community
members during the celebratory ribbon cutting on Saturday, May 30. Throughout
the weekend, there will be food and entertainment and many activities for the
entire family to enjoy.
