Architectural and Engineering Process to Begin May 27
ANAHEIM, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
The Anaheim City Council last night unanimously approved the team of Parsons
Brinckerhoff/HOK (PB/HOK) as the design architects and engineers for Phase One
of the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) complex.
Designed to be a world-class transportation center, ARTIC will serve as a
connectivity gateway and mixed-use destination on a prominent 16-acre site owned
by the Orange County Transit Authority (OCTA) and the City of Anaheim.

"This is an exciting step for the City of Anaheim," said Anaheim Mayor Curt
Pringle. "The ARTIC vision is now a reality, and we look forward to the near
future when Anaheim will be recognized as a transportation hub for the City,
Orange County and beyond. OCTA has been a wonderful partner in this project, and
the PB/HOK design is classic, yet modern in its design efficiencies. The ARTIC
building will be recognized as a gateway to southern California. We look forward
to continuing our working relationship with OCTA and PB/HOK."

The design submitted by PB/HOK features an iconic, landmark building with an
open feeling, skyline presence and an impressive recognition factor. The
world-class, 66,000 total square feet transportation facility design is highly
functional and can be adapted for growth and additional development.

The sustainable building will be built according to LEED "Platinum"
certification. Achieving a Platinum rating can result in the dramatic reduction
of energy use (up to 50%), water use (up to 40%), solid waste produced (up to
70%) and CO2 emissions emitted (more than 35%).

ARTIC will provide easy connections between the various locations in Anaheim and
extend through Orange County, the southern California region and beyond, and
will offer convenient travel via train, car, intercity bus, taxi, or local
transit. It will also accommodate future plans for high-speed train service to
destinations such as San Francisco, Ontario and Las Vegas.

ARTIC is a multi-year, multi-phase project with each phase coinciding with new
and/or expanded transportation services and development. The first phase of this
project, valued at approximately $180 million, shall consist of site work and
preparation, transportation center and supporting facilities, trackwork and
platforms, parking, public art, and access and street improvements. Completion
date is expected mid 2013.
