TEL AVIV, June 1 (Reuters) - Israeli Bank Hapoalim (POLI.TA) Chairman Dan Dankner told a meeting of the board of directors on Monday that he would step down, Israeli media reported.

A spokeswoman for Israel's second-largest bank declined to comment.

Earlier, Israeli media reported the board would appoint Yair Seroussi as vice chairman with the intention he would become chairman when Dankner leaves.

Seroussi is chairman of the investment committee of Israeli pension fund Mivtachim. He is also the director of several large Israeli companies. (Reporting by Tova Cohen; Editing by Dan Lalor)
