Sentilla Energy Manager for Data Centers Version 2.1 Now Integrates All Data Center Power for a Comprehensive, Facility-Wide View of Energy Use REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(Business Wire)-- Sentilla® Corporation, provider of demand-side energy management solutions for data centers and commercial facilities, today introduced Sentilla Energy Manager for Data Centers Version 2.1, which now integrates energy tracking and measuring information from multiple vendors across the data center infrastructure, including IT and physical facilities. In addition to providing a granular view of energy information at the equipment level, this new release brings a consolidated view of power use of all the equipment in the data center. IT managers can now obtain all the energy information in the data center, whether from Sentilla`s Power Analysis Unit or other, third-party equipment, integrated in one standardized format for a single, combined view. With the consolidated energy information, IT managers can set a baseline and establish power usage effectiveness (PUE), the first step in creating an energy reduction strategy in the data center. By integrating third-party device support, the solution is the first of its kind to feature a fully aggregated dashboard which IT managers can utilize to identify energy waste and reduce facility overhead costs. Sentilla is launching the Sentilla Energy Manager Version 2.1 directly as a result of customer and industry feedback. According to Data Center Pulse (DCP), an exclusive group of global data center owners, operators and users, having standardized access to power usage information (preferably using SNMP) is one of the top ten challenges for data center and facilities managers trying to minimize unnecessary energy use and waste. Integration of energy information from multiple vendors` equipment is key to creating a total facility energy profile, a critical tool in reducing carbon emissions and costs due to energy use. "Having a complete picture of where energy is wasted in the data center is crucial for any business to shore up its operational costs," said Jed Scaramella, senior research analyst at IDC. "Energy has become the central design point for data centers; having the insight into the power dynamics and how to reduce those costs can have a major impact on overall performance of the business." "The driving philosophy at Sentilla is to help IT and facilities managers make data centers and other corporate facilities as energy-efficient as possible, whether they are using Sentilla technology or other equipment," said Bob Davis, chief executive officer of Sentilla. "Sentilla`s focus is helping companies reduce their operating costs significantly by providing insight, analysis and actions that make these environments more efficient." Sentilla has received industry praise for the company and its technology. Sentilla was the recipient of the 2008 Duke's Choice Award due to its innovation using Java technology. Co-founder Dr. Joe Polastre is a winner of the 2009 Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal 40 Under 40 award and was named one of BusinessWeek`s Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs for 2009. Sentilla executives and engineering staff sit on numerous technical boards and commissions and are regularly sought out by industry forums to speak on physical computing and its role in energy management. The Sentilla Energy Manager for Data Centers Version 2.1 is immediately available.
