PISCATAWAY, N.J.--(Business Wire)--
On June 11,2009, Blade.org is hosting a vendor neutral, member-driven Technology
Symposium on key trends in the datacenter. Members and end users can register
for free at http://www.blade.org/tech_symposium_2009.cfm. Presentations from key
Blade.org members APC by Schneider Electric, BLADE Network Technologies,
Brocade, IBM, Intel and NetApp will cover technology and trends affecting x86
servers, Infrastructure as a service, how consumer technology and trends are
affecting the data center, how best to scale blade servers to the rack
environment, management tools for the data center, and how to develop the
dynamic infrastructure suitable for cloud computing. These presentations will be
wrapped around an introduction and concluding remarks from Doug Balog, the
chairman of Blade.org..

"As the blade server industry faces the challenge of delivering more IT services
while simultaneously reducing IT budgets, Blade.org members are working with
each other to present the high level technology trends in new and innovative
ways," said Brent Mosbrook, Senior Product Manager for Emulex Corporation and
Chairperson of the Blade.org Solutions Architecture Committee. "The 2009
Technology Symposium is the result of collaboration among many Blade.org members
and highlights key server trends."

Key Agenda Highlights:

• x86 Server trends affecting the Datacenter: Multicore, multithreaded x86
processors are now optimized for data center performance with very high
integration of ultra speed standards based I/O channels and advanced management
software that supports load balancing.

• Infrastructure as a Service: The new data center provides a number of economic
advantages when leveraged correctly. Learn how the overall footprint and floor
space can be leveraged.

• How consumer trends are affecting data center performance: Consumer demand for
on-demand video services such as YouTube, Flickr as well as the myriad of
commercial video services are forcing demands on the data center infrastructure.

• How to best consolidate on blade servers in the rack enviroment: Best
practices include automated machine provisioning and workload migration. Key
technology hurdles in networking and storage connectivity, management of
provisioning, and migration from physical to virtual deployments can be overcome
with management software, resource planning tools and exploitation of new
features in the latest virtualization software and I/O.

• How to develop the dynamic infrastructure for Cloud Computing: Integrating
multicore x86 architectures, dynamic resource allocation, advanced I/O, storage
and networking technologies will be challenge of the future.
