REDWOOD CITY, CA, Jun 01 (MARKET WIRE) --
The global wireless BTS infrastructure market revenues declined by 22.4%
for the first quarter of 2009 to USD $9.8 billion compared with the first
quarter of 2008, according to the latest report from EJL Wireless
Research titled "Global Wireless OEM Financial Results Q1 2009."

"While we expected a seasonally weak Q1, revenues were off by 32.5% from
Q4 which is indicative of the continued economic uncertainty within the
wireless sector," says founder and President Earl Lum. ZTE was the only
company that did not decline substantially in Q1 from Q4 levels while
Nortel was down 60.6% due to the continued uncertainty on the emergence of
the company from bankruptcy protection. The report provides a unique
perspective on the global wireless infrastructure revenues for major
wireless OEMs including Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia Siemens
Networks, Nortel Networks, and ZTE.

"Given how weak Q1 was, it is possible that the wireless infrastructure
market may drop 15-20% in revenues in 2009, even with 3G growth in China
and India," says Lum. As Huawei Technologies remains the only company not
represented in this financial analysis, we believe that the results offer
a realistic snapshot for the industry on how the overall market is
progressing for 2009.

The report is currently available for purchase and information can be
