Former Engelhard Executive to Drive Commercialization of Catalyst Technology for
Increased Efficiency in Petroleum Refining
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & PRINCETON, N.J.--(Business Wire)--
Rive Technology, an innovative catalyst technology company for the petroleum
refining industry, announced today that Tom Thomas has joined its team as Vice
President of Business Development. In this position, Tom will further develop
strategic partnership opportunities and drive commercialization activities for
the Company`s advanced catalyst technology platform. The proprietary technology,
invented at MIT, makes traditional zeolite catalysts more accessible to large
hydrocarbon molecules, enabling increased production of gasoline and diesel
fuel. Rive`s new catalyst fits readily into existing refineries and enables
refiners to increase throughput and profitability with minimal capital
investment.

Prior to joining Rive, Tom was Vice President & General Manager of Commercial
Programs at Accelergy, a venture capital-backed company with proprietary
catalytic and process technologies for coal-to-liquids production. Before his
work with Accelergy, Tom spent over eight years in various executive positions
at Engelhard Corporation, which was acquired by BASF in June 2006. Most
recently, he was general manager for Engelhard's global chemical catalyst
business, which serves the refining and petrochemical industries.

"I am very excited to be a part of the commercialization of Rive`s catalyst
technology," said Tom Thomas, Vice President of Business Development for Rive
Technology. "The technology is poised to have a major impact on the refining
industry, and it has significant potential value for other applications in
industries like petrochemicals and biofuels."

In addition to his experience with Accelergy and Engelhard, Tom held leadership
and management positions in sales, marketing, and business development within
Honeywell's Pharmaceutical Fine Chemicals business and FMC Corporation's Lithium
Division. He also held sales and sales management positions within Nalco
Chemical Company and Unocal Chemicals Division. Tom holds a BS in Chemical
Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
