WASHINGTON, June 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by
the Chinese Scholar Friendship Association:

On June 4th 1989, Chinese military soldiers, equipped with Tanks and
machine-guns from 15 army groups, crashed a peaceful student demonstration and
democracy movement in Beijing. On the 20th Anniversary of Tiananmen Massacre,
the survivors will, coming from all over the world, hold a press conference to
commemorate the movement and victims.

A conference will be held at 4th Estate Restaurant, National Press Club (529
14 St. NW, 13th Floor, Washington DC, 20045) from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., June
4th 2009.

Wang Dan, the top student leader of the 89 movement on the government wanted
list, will host the event. About 60 participants include student leaders Chai
Ling, Wu'er Kaixi, Wang Youcai, Zhou Fengsuo, Wang Chaohua, and Zhang Boli;
intellectual leader ("black hands") Wang Juntao, Su Xiaokang, Zheng Yi, Chen
Kuide, Xie Xuanjun, Jinjin Li and Chen Xiaoping; citizen activists Song
Shuyuan and Liu Nianchun; leaders in other provinces Chen Pokong, Fu Shenqi,
Liu Junguo, and Yi Danxuan; and overseas leader Hu Ping and Yang Jianli. Fang
Zheng, a student of Beijing Sport College who lost two legs under tank in
1989, will also attend the conference.

Participants will publish a reunion statement on various issues such as 1989
movement, June 4th Massacre, China's political situation and future, and the
meaning of rising China in world politics. Then they will answer the questions
from journalists and the audience.

Participants of reunion believe that June 4th Massacre and 1989 movement
represent two models for China's development. Since 1989 movement was cracked
down with June 4th Massacre, China has been launching on abnormal development
with severe problems: government corruption, social disparity, violence
rampancy, growing unemployment, morality collapse, and environment
degeneration. Discontented people rebel against authority everywhere everyday.
So-called political stability was simply and totally maintained by violence.
Opposition movement, right protection movement, underground religion movement,
environment movement, mass unrest, and cyber protest begin to merge into a new
democracy movement. More and more people realize that only democratic reform
can solve the problems. Commemoration of 89 events will contribute to initiate
democratization in China.

Other reunion activities include: Candlelight vigil on June 3rd evening at
Victims of Communism Memorial (Intersection of Massachusetts Ave., NW, and New
Jersey Ave., NW); Rally on Capitol Hill on June 4th morning, hosted by
Initiatives for China, at west lawn of capitol.
