HORSHAM, Pa.--(Business Wire)--
Acurian, Inc., a leading, full-service provider of patient recruitment and
retention solutions, announced today that it now has direct, HIPAA-compliant
access to 40% of the estimated 133 million Americans with a chronic disease.

According to Rick Malcolm, Acurian`s CEO, this access is possible through the
Company`s opted in database of over 50 million people who have explicitly
provided disease and contact information, including postal and email address.

"Over the last 10 years, Acurian has literally invested millions of dollars in
building what is today the leading, data-based asset for clinical trial
recruitment," stated Malcolm. "We routinely fill very large, mission-critical
studies, particularly those for chronic indications where competition for
patients continues to be fierce, or where protocols are increasingly difficult
despite the general prevalence of patients."

Malcolm also stated that while the size of the database is important to source
substantial numbers of additive randomizations in light of stringent protocol
inclusion/exclusion criteria, it is equally important in terms of targeting. The
Company reports that over 60% of surveyed patients indicate that driving
distance is the most important consideration when deciding whether or not to
participate in a clinical research study.

"We can easily distribute clinical trial messaging to a tight radius around each
investigator site to ensure that driving distance for potential patients is
palatable," explained Malcolm. "For sponsors that need to recruit patients for
chronic, ambulatory conditions, the Acurian database is a proven and predictable
method for generating pre-qualified patient referrals who are proximate to a
study center."

Beyond the patient database, Acurian provides a full complement of recruitment
and enrollment services that include performance-based advertising, online
health networks, social networking, and site-based recruitment and enrollment
materials.
