Two-Year Study Shows Demonstrable Improvement in Leadership and Managerial
Skills

WASHINGTON, June 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Denison Consulting, the world's

released the results of a two-year study on the effectiveness of leadership
coaching and its impact on leadership and managerial skills. The study,
conducted with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), www.dla.mil, the largest
government agency that provides logistics support to the U.S. Department of
Defense, will be presented today at the American Society for Training and
Development (ASTD) annual conference, www.astd.org, June 1-3, 2009,Washington,
DC, Booth #2023.

The DLA is one of the largest government agencies that provides an annual $40
billion of logistics support to the U.S. Department of Defense and has
assisted relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina, the 2007 California fires and
other natural disasters around the globe.

The study explored the impact of coaching and leadership development among a
group of emerging leaders within the DLA over a two-year period. The study
components included extensive one-on-one coaching and the Denison Leadership

        organization's current and future viability and has a direct impact
        on bottom line performance
    --  Managers found one-on-one coaching leads to better performance in
        business planning, problem solving, handling conflict, and motivating
        subordinates
    --  Managers viewed themselves as stronger and more capable in all areas
of
        leadership including the ability to better manage up with their bosses
        as well as downward with their direct reports
    --  Subordinates of managers in the study reported significantly better
and
        more effective interaction with their managers
    --  Managers who take time for self-reflection are better able to discern
        priorities and see the big picture
