NASHUA, N.H.--(Business Wire)--
Paratek announced today that Ralph Pini has joined Paratek as its new President
and CEO. Mr. Pini is a long-time veteran of the cellular industry, having spent
30 years at Motorola in various technical and managerial roles, including Senior
Vice President and CTO of the Wireless Personal Communications Sector. Prior to
his departure from Motorola in 2004, Mr. Pini was responsible for the R&D
activities related to all wireless technologies and created value and growth for
the company through pioneering innovation, visible technology leadership, and
intellectual property development. Mr. Pini was a major contributor in the
creation of many of the iconic wireless devices like the MicroTac, StarTac and
the RAZR phone. Mr. Pini has been associated with Paratek since 2004 as a
technical advisor and more recently as a director.

James DiLorenzo, will work closely with Mr. Pini and will assume the role of
Chief Technical Operations Officer, overseeing all of Paratek`s technology and
product development. Mr. DiLorenzo will also become Chairman of Paratek`s Board
of Directors.

According to Pini, "My motivation for joining Paratek is that I see Paratek`s
adaptive tunable technology as a way to transform the cellular handset industry.
Paratek`s pioneering technology solves many of the most vexing problems facing
handset manufacturers today and will be a key enabler in creating phones which
are higher RF performance, physically smaller, and consume less power. In just a
few short years, Paratek`s technology should be mainstream for mobile handsets.

Paratek`s adaptive RF-front end products known as AIMM (Adaptive Impedance
Matching Module) and RAFT (Radio Antenna Frequency Tuners) intelligently adapt
to enhance the RF performance of mobile phones as they operate over various
frequencies, operating bands, and use cases. These products are based on
Paratek`s proprietary tunable material - ParaScan. Earlier this year, Paratek
entered into a strategic relationship with STMicroelectronics to advance the
next generation of Paratek`s ParaScan materials technology for high-volume
manufacturing and establish a program to jointly develop tunable products that
improve Total Radiated Power (TRP) for mobile phones, leading to longer battery
life, fewer dropped calls and higher data rates for emerging "data intensive
applications" on mobile handsets. Initial production of the RF-tuning components
will take place at STMicroelectronics` fabrication facility in Tours, France by
the end of 2009.
