The 2009 TechConnect World Trio of Events Draws a Record Number of Attendees,
Speakers and Vendors to Houston
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- NSTI and CTSI today announced that
the recently held TechConnect World trio of conferences, which included Clean
Technology '09, Nanotech '09, and the TechConnect Summit events, drew a record
number of attendees, speakers, and vendors to the George R. Brown Convention
Center in Houston, Texas. NSTI/CTSI also announced that the 2009 programs
were the largest in the company's history.
More than 2,700 presentations were hosted at the combined events, including
panel discussions, poster presentations, and keynote addresses by leading
executives such as: Lockheed Martin's Dr. Ray Johnson; Continental Airlines'
Larry Kellner; the Obama Administration's Thomas Kalil; and hundreds of
others.
"Energy and climate change are important national security issues, and
nanotechnology offers the promise of enabling solutions to challenging
problems in these areas. Lockheed Martin is proud to have been the host
sponsor of this important event, which provided the opportunity for our
workforce to collaborate with top researchers from around the world and gain
insights into emerging technologies that can support our customer's needs,"
said Dr. Ray O. Johnson, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of
Lockheed Martin.
More than 250 exhibitors participated in the expo, which was attended by a
record 3,500 attendees.
"Smartcool is focused on promoting its products to the right audience, both
from a sales and technical perspective, particularly in the current economic
climate. This conference allowed us to introduce our energy efficiency
technology to a wide array of interested parties, both from North America and
abroad, enabling us to make key contacts across different sectors all
represented in one show," said Chris Lefaivre, VP of Sales for Smartcool
Systems.
"We more than paid for our booth space with pre-arranged meetings with several
customers. Seeing them at hourly intervals at our booth is much preferable to
the cost and aggravation of dealing with the airlines in getting to their
locations. The walk-in traffic was a bonus," added Charles Van Fleet,
President of Swan Chemical Inc.
"First Nano/SDC has been attending the NSTI show for the past 9 years. It's
the perfect venue to network with colleagues, technologists, executives and
other key decision makers in the global nanotechnology industry, and we think
the addition of the Clean Technology expo made this show much more valuable,"
stated Gary Dyal, Director of Sales and Marketing for First Nano.
"NanoInk continues to find this exhibit a good investment with a highly
focused group of our current and potential customers. The two day format for
the exhibit allows us to get the most out of our effort and the technical
presentations remain excellent," concluded Tom Levesque, Vice President of
NanoFabrication Systems for NanoInk.
Program development efforts for the 2010 events -- taking place June 20-24,
2010, at the Anaheim Convention Center -- have already begun. Interested

CTSI's Clean Technology event assembled the entire clean technology ecosystem
-- including industry, academia and government -- to examine the policy issues
and measures needed to promote sustainability and accelerate the flow of
energy, water and environmental technologies.
The twelfth edition of the Nanotech conference & expo was the largest
nanotechnology event in the world, focusing on bringing nanotechnology from
the laboratory to the marketplace. And the TechConnect Summit tied both
events together, through an intellectual property and venture marketplace
designed to connect Fortune 500 companies, university tech transfer agents,
early-stage investors, and entrepreneurs. For more information on these three
events, please visit: www.techconnectworld.com.
