LONDON, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Ketchum, a leading public relations agency, today announced Fernando Rizo as head of Digital Media for Ketchum London. Rizo previously served as a senior interactive specialist for Ketchum's Interactive Strategies Group at the agency's global headquarters in New York. In his new role, Rizo will provide senior client counsel on digital strategy while also supporting core teams in managing the day-to-day digital components of core PR programs. He will also serve in a digital thought-leadership capacity for the agency while continuing to develop and align Ketchum's in-house digital capabilities. He will report to Nick Propper, deputy CEO, London. "This appointment underscores Ketchum's commitment to integrating digital strategy across all practices and geographic regions," said Propper. "In his time with Ketchum, Fernando has offered tremendous insight to clients in the new-media space and in his new role he will use his expertise to shape Ketchum Digital as it makes its official entrance into the European market." One of the founding members of Ketchum's Interactive Strategies Group, Rizo has worked on projects ranging from high-level strategic social media planning to opportunistic programs and digital partnership realization to digital media education and online issues and crisis counsel for Ketchum clients and account teams all over the globe. Rizo also specializes in advising clients with matters related to Wikipedia, for which he has been an administrator since 2005. Prior to joining Ketchum in January 2008, Rizo served in the United States Marine Corps and as an associate online media marketing manager at interactive marketing agency Fly Communications. He attended Columbia University in New York. Rizo's digital media role aligns Ketchum's European headquarters with the agency's growing global digital strategy capabilities. His appointment is the latest in a series of key digital leadership appointments around the world for Ketchum. Earlier this year, the agency announced the arrival of Jonathan Kopp to serve as global director of Ketchum Digital. Soon after, Clement Lau was appointed senior vice president of digital communications in Ketchum's Greater China division, and Tom Barritt was appointed director of online relationships and reputation for the Global Food & Nutrition Practice.
