WASHINGTON, DC, Jun 01 (MARKET WIRE) --
Maritime Medical Access (MMA) has joined the race to cure pediatric brain
tumors by donating medical supplies and medical support for the 2009 PLGA
Quest Journey for a Cure. The PLGA Quest Journey is a trans-Atlantic
voyage to benefit children's brain cancer research at the Dana Farber
Cancer Institute.

In operation since 1989, MMA provides a vital link to the delivery of
appropriate medical care for shipping vessels, aircraft, yachts and teams
in remote locations. "MMA is an important service for any long range
sailing or expedition team," says Dana Anderson, Captain of Vision Quest,
the 42 foot sailing vessel that is completing the journey. "There are no
'treat and transport' services on the high seas. We have to be able to
stabilize the patient for up to a week before we can get help. MMA has
helped us assemble our medical supplies and will be available for consult
via Satellite phone to help us from everything from minor illness to
serious trauma."

The journey of Vision Quest is entirely self-funded by her owner. "We are
pleased to donate remote medical support and supplies for the Captain and
crew during their voyage to raise awareness and research funds for
pediatric brain cancer. It is a privilege to be involved with such a
worthwhile cause," states Michael Hite, Director of Maritime Medical
Access. The journey begins today in Portsmouth, NH and concludes in four
weeks in the Canary Islands.
