4-Wire E&M Voice Interface Module Now Permits Both Voice and Data for Use In
Harsh Network Environments with Wide Temperature Ranges
CHANTILLY, Va.--(Business Wire)--
In response to customer need for comprehensive network solutions integrating
both analog voice and VoIP connectivity to remote sub-stations, Encore Networks
today announced the addition of a `ruggedized` 4-wire E&M Voice Interface Module
(VIM) to its BANDIT-3 security router. The VIM is used to support tie-line
facilities or signals between telephone switches and integrates VoIP with legacy
voice solutions by connecting the BANDIT-3 to a PBX.

The BANDIT-3 isan industrially hardened (rugged) security router with integrated
firewall, terminal server, serial-to- IP converter, legacy protocol conversion
and VPN functionality. Ideally suited for electric, gas, oil and water
utilities, the BANDIT-3 ensures system data and SCADA network connections
directly to the Internet, secure WAN and/or LAN, commercial cellular and
satellite services.

E&M is the most common form of analog trunking developed to interconnect PBX`s
via tie-lines in the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) or a through a
leased line. Encore`s VIM connects a standard 4-wire E&M interface to any
network interface supported. The VIM provides two analog voice connections with
a standard 8-pin (RJ-45) interface jack, can be configured to support multiple
trunking or connection scenarios, and supports all E&M types I, II, III, IV, and
V. With E&M voice capabilities, the hardened BANDIT-3 allows for secure and
compressed voice applications, such as hand held radio communications between
remote sub-stations over any terrestrial or wireless network.

"The hardened construction of the BANDIT with E&M capabilities allows us to
address the mission critical voice needs of organizations whose networks have
very little environmental controls," said Matt Girard, Encore Networks Senior
Director of Business Development. "Not only are we perfect for sub-station
applications, but emergency first responders, trucking companies, railroads, and
remote construction sites can all customize their networks to utilize this
function for their critical compressed or un-compressed voice needs over any
network."
