PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Throughout June, women will

Participating facilities will offer complimentary golf instruction to people
14 years of age and older and activities including networking receptions,
equipment demonstrations, and playing experiences with a focus on fun. More
information, including a list of local participating facilities, can be found
at PlayGolfAmerica.com.

PGA/LPGA Professional Suzy Whaley, LPGA Tour and World Golf Halls of Fame
member Nancy Lopez, and fitness expert and philanthropist Donna Richardson
Joyner serve as spokeswomen.

"Programs such as American Express Women's Golf Month, provide the opportunity
to experience the game of golf in a comfortable setting, under the guidance of
skilled PGA/LPGA Professionals," said Anne Lyndrup, director of player
development for the National Golf Course Owners Association and leader of the
Women's Golf Month organizers. "We look forward to celebrating the game of
golf with thousands of people across the country during our fifth
anniversary."

In its first four years, more than 105,000 people nationwide have been
introduced or re-introduced to the game of golf during America Express Women's
Golf Month, which premiered in 2005 as Women's Golf Week. In 2008, 1,208
facilities nationwide hosted events with 37,350 consumers attending. Of those
consumers, 47 percent were new customers to the facility and 32 percent were
new golfers. Host facilities reported a median of $3,320 in revenues generated
from people who continued to pursue the game following American Express
Women's Golf Month.

Through programs such as this, many people have discovered that the game of
golf can be used to foster relationships and encourage personal health, while
spending time with family, friends or colleagues.

American Express Women's Golf Month is part of the national Play Golf America
campaign. It is coordinated by industry-leading organizations, including
Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA), Golf Course Superintendents
Association of America (GCSAA), Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA),
National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) and The PGA of America (PGA).
