NEW YORK, NY, Jun 01 (MARKET WIRE) --
IMG, the world's premier sports, entertainment and media company, earned
top honors for its global consulting practice at the 2nd Annual Sports
Business Awards hosted by SportsBusiness Journal (SBJ). The company was
honored twice with the top awards in the Sponsorship Consulting Agency
and Property Consulting categories.
"We take immense pride in the work our global consulting team does on
behalf of our partners and clients and are honored to be recognized for
this work by the industry," said George F. Pyne, President of IMG Sports
and Entertainment. "From Olympics to motorsports, IMG Consulting leads in
developing smart programs and solutions that deliver value for our clients
around the globe."
"In difficult economic times, companies need to know that they are going
to get the best return on their sports investments," said David Abrutyn,
Managing Director, Senior Vice President and Head of IMG Global
Consulting. "IMG Consulting has a global team of experts dedicated to
helping our clients make smart decisions and developing value-generating
programs that allow them to succeed."
In corporate consulting, SBJ noted IMG's highest-ever revenue and profits
and the firm's position at the top of the sports consulting business. The
publication specifically highlighted IMG's effective crafting of
Allstate's college football programs, covering 65 universities and 22
bowl games, as well as their work across the entire Coca-Cola NASCAR
program.
Also of note was IMG's work at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, where they
represented a record number of TOP sponsors including GE, Johnson &
Johnson, as well as USOC sponsors 24 Hour Fitness and Kleenex.
In addition, IMG's booming motorsports practice, with more than 100 years
of collective experience across offices in Charlotte, Chicago, New York
and Los Angeles, runs client consulting programs for blue-chip brands
like Coke and Allstate. IMG also advises on branding and sponsor services
for Joe Gibbs Racing, John Force Racing and the NHRA.
In the property consulting category, the Sports Business Awards judges
noted that IMG's sales continue to be its most far-reaching strength,
including two of the world's most prestigious tennis and golf tournaments:
Wimbledon and the British Open. SBJ also highlighted the impressive growth
of the IMG College franchise which featured partnerships with powerhouse
schools including Connecticut, Michigan and Ohio State. IMG was also
