Falls Church News-Press Endorses Brian Moran for Governor in June 9 Democratic
Primary, Jody Wagner for Lt. Gov., Bob Hull and Adam Parkhomenko in N.
Virginia Contested State Delegate Primaries
FALLS CHURCH, Va., June 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Falls Church
News-Press, the only locally-owned newspaper based in the electorally-decisive
Eastern Fairfax County-Falls Church-North Arlington region of Northern
Virginia, announced on its Web site last night that it endorses Former State
Del. Brian Moran for Governor of Virginia in the June 9 Democratic primary.
The News-Press also announced that it endorses Former State Treasurer Jody
Wagner for Lieutenant Governor, and in two contested Northern Virginia races
for state delegate in the primary, it endorses Incumbent Del. Bob Hull in the
38th District and Adam Parkhomenko in the 47th District.
Nicholas F. Benton, owner-editor of the News-Press, made the following
statement about the endorsements:
"We are proud to endorse Brian Moran, Jody Wagner, Bob Hull and Adam
Parkhomenko for the June 9 Democratic primary.
"Moran has a wealth of experience fighting for both the betterment of Virginia
and progressive values. As a Northern Virginian be brings a depth of knowledge
of the region's needs unmatched by his two opponents. His strongly-stated vow
to fight for the repeal of the Marshall-Newman amendment, which denies equal
rights to a whole class of Virginia citizens, sets him on a high moral ground
and will serve him well going into the general election by compelling his
Republican opponent to own his party's continuing, divisive stand on this
issue.
"Wagner is also distinguished for her record of achievement working for a
better Virginia and with the achievements of the previous two Democratic
gubernatorial administrations. Hull likewise has a wealth of experience and
achievement, including 17 years of accumulated seniority to the benefit of his
constituents. Parkhomenko, among five rivals all seeking public office for the
first time, brings the most energy, at his young age having already
accumulated more political experience than most twice his age, and will
provide Richmond with a worthy representative of the 'millennial generation.'"
