Altra Expands Manufacturing Presence in China

BRAINTREE, Mass., June 1, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Altra Holdings Inc.,
(Nasdaq:AIMC), a leading global supplier of clutch brakes, couplings, gearing,
belted drives and power transmission components, announced today that it will
relocate its Asia Pacific manufacturing operations to a new location in
Shenzhen, China. This facility will serve as the company's principle
manufacturing site in China and will primarily support Altra customers in the
local Asia Pacific market. Carl Christenson, Altra's President and CEO, stated,
"In spite of the global economic downturn, we are committed to investing in
areas that support Altra's overall growth strategy. Our new location in China
virtually doubles our manufacturing capacity, significantly improves lean
product flow on the shop floor, and offers our associates a much improved modern
and safe working environment." The relocation is anticipated to be complete by
the end of the third quarter 2009.
