USDLA Files Comments to the FCC on the Establishment of the National Broadband Policy Emphasizes the importance of broadband accessibility and pricing affordability, without unnecessary regulations BOSTON, June 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Distance Learning Association, the recognized worldwide organization of dedicated professionals committed to the distance learning industry, today filed comments with the Federal Communications Commission regarding the inquiry on establishing a National Broadband Policy. USDLA's focus on distance learning opportunities gives a unique perspective to a National Broadband Policy. In its comments, USDLA advocates for broadband accessibility and affordability, highlighting broadband's ability to provide increased educational opportunities for individuals who would otherwise lack access because of their rural or remote location. While the USDLA supports a National Broadband Policy, the membership also cautioned against unnecessary regulation or "net-neutrality," stating that "complex and unnecessary regulation would only create a stumbling block for broadband technology and delay widespread delivery of distance learning along with other benefits." Dedicated to the educational benefits that universal broadband connections make possible, USDLA is hopeful that its comments will not only be read and considered, but implemented as the National Broadband Policy takes form in the weeks and months to come.
