U.S. eyes tougher consumer protection: Geithner

BEIJING (Reuters) - Stronger consumer protection will be a vital component of a regulatory overhaul that the United States will unveil soon, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on Monday.

"We are going to need to change and improve the quality of protections for consumers," Geithner said in a question-and-answer session after a speech to students at Peking University. (Reporting by Glenn Somerville; Editing by Alan Wheatley)
