IRVINE, Calif.--(Business Wire)-- Freedom Communications, Inc. announced today that Scott Flanders, its president and chief executive officer since January 2006, has resigned to take the CEO post at Playboy Enterprises, Inc. During his tenure at Freedom, Flanders oversaw both the company`s efforts to transform its business and to reach a waiver with its banks, positioning the company for a comprehensive restructuring. He instituted a number of measures to streamline operations and to increase the company's interactive presence. Flanders will continue as Freedom`s CEO through June. Freedom said its Board of Directors is already in discussions about the CEO role and the qualifications of the person to fill it. Freedom added that its commitment to its stakeholders and the communities it serves will remain strong and consistent. "This was a difficult decision for me to make, but the opportunity to take on new challenges was, ultimately, one that I could not pass up," Flanders said. "Freedom is a great company filled with talented people, and I believe it is well positioned to move forward and meet the challenges of competing in this new media environment." "Scott has served Freedom during a very turbulent time in the industry's history," said Chairman of the Board Thomas W. Bassett, great-grandson of the company's founder R.C. Hoiles. "I wish him continued success."
