NAHB's Robson says housing at or near bottom

NEW YORK, June 2 | Tue Jun 2, 2009 12:45pm EDT

NEW YORK, June 2 (Reuters) - The head of the National Homebuilders Association on Tuesday said the worst was probably over for the downtrodden U.S. housing sector.

"Indicators look like we're at or near a bottom in housing," said NAHB chairman Joe Robson.

His remarks come after a separate industry group reported a striking 6.7 percent jump in "pending" home sales, the biggest one-month rise in 7-1/2 years. (Reporting by Pedro Nicolaci da Costa; Editing by Theodore d'Afflisio)
