Nordea to cut 150 jobs in Finland -union
HELSINKI, June 5 |
HELSINKI, June 5 (Reuters) - Nordic bank Nordea (NDA.ST) will cut 150 jobs in Finland through voluntary redundancies, trade union Suora said on Friday.
"Talks regarding lay-offs at Nordea branch offices have ended. Reductions will happen through voluntary decisions made by the staff," the union said in a statement.
A Nordea spokesperson could not immediately confirm the figure.
"The talks procedure is not officially over ... we will communicate the final decision in mid-June," said Pekka Ojala, human resources director for the bank's Finnish arm.
He said co-operation during the talks had been good and that jobs would be cut through retirement and voluntary packages.
Ojala said the talks concerned its 345 branch offices across Finland, where the bank has roughly 9,000 employees. (Reporting by Eva Lamppu, editing by Will Waterman)
