JEFFERIES GROUP(JEF.N)
Jefferies has hired six derivatives and exchange-traded fund staff, including managing director Jeffrey Mann, who was previously at Barclays. The other hires join at the vice president and senior vice president level.
BANK OF MONTREAL (BMO.TO)
Investment and corporate banking unit BMO Capital Markets has hired Tim Long as a senior equity analyst in its technology team. Long joins from Bank of America Corp.
COMMERCIAL MORTGAGE SECURITIES ASSOCIATION
The trade body said Patrick Sargent, a partner at Andrews Kurth, will be its president from June 2009-June 2010, replacing Christopher Hoeffel.
VENABLE LLP
Law firm Venable LLP has added eight tax and estate planning attorneys to its Los Angeles office, seven of whom join from Reish Luftman Reicher & Cohen.
PIPER JAFFRAY COMPANIES (PJC.N)
The investment bank said it had hired David Wirdnam from Citigroup as a managing director in the firm's debt capital markets and financial restructuring groups. The company has also added Matt Traina, previously at Bank of America Corp, to its financial sponsors group.
PRUDENTIAL FINANCIAL (PRU.N)
Prudential's real estate unit, Prudential Real Estate Investors, has hired Jack Taylor from Five Mile Capital Partners as head of its global high-yield debt business. The unit has also hired Steven Plust from Five Mile Capital Partners and Stephen Alpart, from Capmark Investments, as managing directors.
ZURICH FINANCIAL SERVICES (ZURN.VX)
The insurer said it has named David Bartnick as its north central regional manager. Bartnick was most recently national accounts property segment manager and excess and surplus underwriting manager for Zurich.
CANTOR FITZGERALD
The financial services firm said it added two whole loan specialists, Lee Hetfield and Jason Kopcak, as Managing Directors/Co-Heads of Whole Loan Sales and Trading as the firm continues to expand its fixed income business. Kopcak and Hetfield join Cantor after positions at a principal investing fund involved in resolution of both residential and commercial whole loans.
HAMMERSON (HMSO.L)
Real estate company Hammerson named Christophe Clamageran to its board as an executive director. Clamageran is currently managing director for France at the company.
MORGAN JOSEPH & CO
Mid-market investment bank Morgan Joseph has hired Joseph Castro in a new position as head of its convertible securities sales and trading group. Castro was previously at Baird Patrick & Co.
MORGAN STANLEY (MS.N)
The financial services company said it appointed Marcus Rivaldi as an executive director for Fixed Income Research.
Rivaldi, who joins from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS.L) (RBS.N), will be responsible for credit analysis of European insurance companies, Morgan Stanley said.
Morgan Stanley added that Rivaldi will be based in London as part of the European Financials Credit Research group.
FIRSTRAND LTD (FSRJ.J)
The South African banking group has appointed Sizwe Nxasana, head of its core banking unit and a former chief of telecoms firm Telkom (TKGJ.J), as its new chief executive. Nxasana will succeed Paul Harris as group CEO at the end of this year. [ID:nL9605053]
BARCLAYS CAPITAL (BARC.L)
The investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC said it appointed Jim Chapman as its new head of Power and Utilities Group in Asia ex-Japan.
Chapman, who previously worked for Lehman Brothers LEHMQ.PK, will be responsible for leading all investment banking transactions in the power and utility sectors in Asia ex-Japan, Barclays Capital said. [ID:nHKG124958]
COLLINS STEWART
The financial advisory group said it appointed Mike Wojtowicz and Mike Murphy, who will form a fixed income credit trading desk in London. Wojtowicz and Murphy will join Collins Stewart in early July, the firm said.
Mike Wojtowicz joins from Barclays Capital (BARC.L), while Mike Murphy was previously at BNP Paribas (BNPP.PA) and Lehman Brothers.
THOMAS MILLER HOLDINGS
The specialty insurance provider said it elected Hugo Wynn-Williams as its chairman. Wynn-Williams, previously deputy chairman, succeeds Peter Donnellan, who had been chairman since 2006.
