LONDON, June 10 (Reuters) - BP (BP.L) Chief Executive Tony Hayward said on Wednesday it could be argued $60-$90 was the right price range for oil because it would support investment in new supply without destroying demand.

"There is a rational argument to say that somewhere between $60 to $90 a barrel is the right sort of level," Hayward said.

Oil prices were trading above $71 a barrel on Wednesday (CLc1), more than double a low of $32.40 hit in December, which was the weakest in nearly five years.

While oil has rallied strongly, Hayward said he still expected: "Pressure on North American (natural) gas prices will continue through this year."

He also said cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) might struggle to find a market for the next year or two.
