SINGAPORE, June 10 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse (CSGN.VX) said on Wednesday it appointed UBS (UBSN.VX) veteran Tee Fong Seng as vice chairman of its Asia Pacific private banking operations.

Tee, who will assume his role on Aug. 1, will be responsible for the bank's super-rich clients, known as ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

A Credit Suisse spokeswoman said the bank defined these customers as those with 50 million Swiss francs ($46.4 million) or more in assets under management with the Swiss bank in the Asia Pacific region. For most private banks that asset threshold is nearer $25 million.

Tee spent the last 14 years at UBS, where he last served as head of wealth management for Southeast Asia.

Credit Suisse in April placed advertisements in newspapers to hire experienced private bankers in Asia, at a time when its rivals have been shedding staff.

Credit Suisse's private banking arm last year generated 50.9 billion Swiss francs in net new assets worldwide, including 8.4 billion francs from clients in Asia Pacific. (Reporting by Eveline Danubrata, Editing by Ian Geoghegan)
