Former Quadriplegic Patient Able to Walk Out of Methodist Rehabilitation
Hospital

DALLAS, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- When he arrived at Methodist Rehabilitation
Hospital Oct. 20, 2008, Michael Hulshouser was a quadriplegic, stricken by
Guillain-Barre Syndrome and barely able to lift his head. Four months later,
under the care of his physician, therapist and the rehabilitation staff, the
48-year-old father of two was able to walk by himself with the aid of a
walker. "My son said that all he wanted for Christmas was for me to be able to
walk," says Hulshouser. "Three weeks after Christmas and three days before my
birthday I was able to do that."

Hulshouser says the Methodist Rehabilitation Hospital staff has done wonderful
things for him. "I had given up," he says. "They brought me back." He also
says the hospital has great food and the chef honored any special requests he
made. "I gained over 25 pounds while I was there," he says. The great food, he
says, lifted his spirits and aided in his recovery.

"Mr. Hulshouser was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome which is a rare
neurological disorder that can cause weakness, numbness, and in some cases
complete paralysis," says Bobby Huynh, MD, a physical medicine and
rehabilitation specialist on the medical staff at Methodist Health System.
"Through hard work, perseverance and the physical and occupational therapy he
received at Methodist Rehabilitation Hospital, Mr. Hulshouser made a
miraculous recovery from being quadriplegic to being able to walk again. The
rehabilitation he received has given him a new lease on life."
