CARLSBAD, Calif., ZURICH, Switzerland, and DUESSELDORF, Germany--(Business
Wire)--
Leaders from the international medical technology industry gathered last week
for the first annual EuroMedtech partnering conference. The conference was held
on June 3-4 in Duesseldorf, Germany, and played host to over 250 delegates
representing 191 companies from 21 countries who engaged in 652 one-to-one
partnering meetings. In addition, there were 7 workshops and panel sessions and
43 presentations by medtech companies seeking financing, licensing opportunities
or partners for advancing product development.

EuroMedtech received a warm welcome into the heart of Europe`s most intensive
region for medical technology, which during four days each November becomes "the
center of the world for medical devices at the annual MEDICA trade fair,"
according to Prof. Andreas Pinkwart, Minister for Innovation, Science, Research
and Technology for the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Minister Pinkwart said, "We are pleased to host EuroMedtech that is an
innovative event for its unique focus on bringing together investors and
inventors, joining money and ideas. Now more than ever we need to keep the
momentum going in the field of medical engineering and research."

Wilfried Kruse, Commissioner with the City of Duesseldorf, also praised the
event producer EBD Group saying, "EuroMedtech is a first-ever event and a new
concept we are proud to see being launched in our city."

By all measures EuroMedtech exceeded delegates` expectations in facilitating
their ability to meet with numerous potential partners and discuss in- and
out-licensing, financing and other collaborative programs.

"EBD Group has again hit the mark with the EuroMedtech partnering conference,"
said EuroMedtech Advisory Board member, Jeanne Bertonis, CEO, Strategic
Biomedical Consultants. "Enhancing industry collaboration is an essential
ingredient for the future growth and dynamism of the medtech industry. As a
forum dedicated to facilitating industry partnerships and venture capital
relationships, EuroMedtech is certain to play an important and growing role in
the success of our industry."

Carola Schropp, President, EBD Group, said, "The medical technology industry is
characterized by innovation that helps the healthcare industry respond to the
demographics of aging populations. For these reasons medtech, despite the
worldwide economic recession, continues to be a growth market. Keeping medtech`s
engine of innovation humming is what EBD Group wants to help ensure with the
partnering conference EuroMedtech"

Schropp added, "EBD Group is very excited to bring our proven format for
partnering to the European medtech sector. Based on the response we received
here in Duesseldorf, next year`s event should set a new benchmark for productive
partnering in the medtech marketplace."
