Mayer is a technology luminary and entrepreneur. In 2006 Mayer founded the
seminal deaf blog/vlog aggregator DeafRead.com and the online video community
DeafVIDEO.TV. These sites offer the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Community an
online home to connect with other members of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing
Community. Since launching DeafRead.com and DeafVIDEO.tv, Mayer has continued
to focus much of his professional career on seeking new ways to apply
technology to connect the deaf community online, all while achieving
entrepreneurial success.
"It is truly an exciting opportunity to be recognized and I am honored to have
been chosen as one of the finalists for Purple's Trailblazer of the Year,"
said Mayer. "The Internet is a medium that has allowed many to pursue their
dreams, and it has particularly enabled the deaf community to interact in
whatever language they are most comfortable with. Seeing my ideas come to
fruition by empowering others is something our team is extremely proud of, and
couldn't have been possible without the help of many friends and supporters. I
salute Purple for the acknowledgement of this effort as a whole."
