ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(Business Wire)--
The National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) has published the
preliminary results of the Portal Challenge tests in its Multiple Biometric
Grand Challenge (MBGC). Sagem Sécurité (SAFRAN Group) is ranked No.1 in face
recognition, No.1 in iris recognition and No.1 in combined recognition for these
two biometric technologies.

"I am very proud to have earned this recognition by NIST, acknowledged worldwide
for the impartiality and quality of their tests," said Jean-Paul Jainsky,
Chairman and CEO of Sagem Sécurité. "These results are the culmination of many
years of research, and once again demonstrate our leadership and technological
capabilities."

"As Sagem Sécurité`s representative in North America, MorphoTrak is excited to
make this top performing biometric technology available to the U.S. and Canadian
governments in securing their borders," stated Daniel Vassy, President and CEO
of MorphoTrak.

The Portal Challenge tests concerned seven companies and five universities,
under conditions typical of applications for border control and identity
management. Sagem Sécurité is the only company to have reached this level of
accuracy in all three types of biometric recognition: face, iris and a
combination of the two. These results clearly bolster the company`s leadership
role in the personal and data security markets, and its technological advance in
identity solutions.
