Clive Beddoe to Chair Concept Development Committee for Calgary TELUS Convention Centre Proposed Expansion

  CALGARY, ALBERTA, Jun 10 (MARKET WIRE) -- 
Calgary Convention Centre Authority Chair, Laurel Wood, announced that
Clive Beddoe will Chair the newly formed Concept Development Committee
for the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre Centre Proposed Expansion
Facilities.

    Successful negotiations have resulted in the contract signing between
local Calgary firm Cohos Evamy integratedesign(TM) and partner LMN
Architects for Prime Consultant Services Expanded Convention Centre
Facilities. The consultants will provide services to determine potential
sites for expanded convention facilities, development of a Master Plan
and building design.

    The Concept Development Committee will monitor progress of the Calgary
Convention Centre Authority's Phase One activities. The committee will be
chaired by well-known Calgary businessman and WestJet founder, Clive
Beddoe (click for Mr. Beddoe's bio). Committee membership will include
members of the Calgary Convention Centre Authority's existing Development
Committee, as well as the City of Calgary and Calgary Economic
Development. The Concept Development Committee will provide advice and
counsel to the Convention Centre Authority and Cohos Evamy
integratedesign(TM).

    Timelines:

    November 17, 2008

    City Council provides funding in the amount of $156,000 to support a
feasibility study

    February 3, 2009

    A request for proposal was issued for a Prime Consultant

    March 10, 2009

    The RFP closed and an independent Selection Committee reviewed and
recommended a short list of firms

    April 27, 2009

    City Council provides remaining funding of $1.0 million for feasibility
study

    April 30, 2009

    The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre enters negotiations with successful
proponent Cohos Evamy integratedesign(TM) and partner LMN Architects.

    June 5, 2009

    Negotiations end and contract is signed.

    June 10, 2009

    Clive Beddoe agrees to Chair the Concept Development Committee
