FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(Business Wire)--
BankAtlantic, "Florida`s Most Convenient Bank," announced today that it has been
honored with the Commissioner`s Business Recognition Award for their successful
financial literacy program. The Kid Power program educates second and third
graders about finance using integrated math skills, a critical component to
their future financial success.

"The Florida Education Foundation and Florida Department of Education annually
recognize businesses throughout the state that have demonstrated their
commitment to improving education by partnering with schools in their community.
BankAtlantic was nominated for this honor by the Nob Hill Elementary School, one
of our partners in education," commented Jarett Levan, CEO of BankAtlantic. "We
are very proud of this recognition by the education community statewide and
particularly of the students, faculty and staff of the Nob Hill Elementary
School."

Nob Hill Elementary School, located in Sunrise, Florida, and a recent winner of
the Broward County School Board Award for Partnership of the Year, has been a
participant of Kid Power and in-school banking, a segment of the Kid Power
program. The bank-school partnership grew when BankAtlantic approached the
school about expanding Kid Power. Kid Power is a hands-on experience where
BankAtlantic colleagues volunteer their time at local elementary schools to help
students understand the true value of money.

Over a three-week period students explore the fundamentals of banking and
savings, learn how to balance and checking account, and understand how
technology can make banking more convenient. At the end of the Kid Power
experience, each student receives a certificate of achievement, the opportunity
to open a Kid Power savings account, and a little more knowledge about our
evolving financial world.

"It`s an honor to recognize BankAtlantic as a top business partner for its
continued commitment to Florida`s education system," said Education Commissioner
Dr. Eric J. Smith. "BankAtlantic has truly set the bar for community involvement
in Broward County, and I look forward to many more years of continued gains with
the help of our business partners."
