LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Days after its premiere, the Edie Falco-starring drama "Nurse Jackie" has been picked up for a second season.

Monday night the critically acclaimed show became the most-watched series premiere in Showtime's history. "Jackie" was seen by 1 million viewers, then gathered another 350,000 watchers during its same-night repeat for a total of 1.35 million viewers.

That surpasses the previous same-night series premiere record holder, "Secret Diary of a Call Girl," which opened to about 950,000 viewers in 2008.

In one of its characteristic early pickup moves, Showtime ordered another 13 episodes of "Jackie" based on the overnight ratings.
